Squish
Squish is a series dealing with the psychological intimacy of the miniature and the impulsive actions of the hand manipulating material.
Smoosh
I explored applying “squish” mentality of the hand to the pre-made cast form, which was de-molded early and manipulated in it’s soft state. The surface was glazed and sandblasted, with the final form being navigated with a path of color.
Anagama Scupltures
Through the Anagama process of the slow, wood-firing of unglazed greenware,
I was released to experiment with form without control of surface.
